Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

This policy describes what Breton Ride ("the app", "we", "us") collects when you use it to find, book, or drive a shuttle across Cape Breton, and what we do with it.

Information we collect

Account. Your mobile phone number, used to sign you in by SMS code — we never see or store a password. Optionally, a display name and profile photo if you add them.

Location. With your permission, your device's location while the app is open — to show nearby shuttles on the map and to set your pickup point when you book an on-demand ride. We do not collect location in the background when the app is closed.

Ride activity. The routes, stops, and departures you book or drive, seat counts, ride status, and — if you drive a shuttle — the vehicle's live position while a route is active, visible to riders waiting on that route.

Wallet & payments. Your in-app wallet balance, top-up and fare transaction history, and — if you buy a route pass — its active dates. Card details are never sent to or stored by Breton Ride: top-ups and passes are processed directly by our payment provider, Stripe, under its own privacy policy. We store only Stripe's customer and subscription references, not your card number.

Driver information. If you register as a driver: vehicle details and the routes and departures assigned to you.

How we use it

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only as needed to run the service:

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists, so your ride history, passes, and wallet balance stay available to you. If you delete your account (see below), your profile, ride history, wallet, and saved payment methods are permanently deleted — see "Deleting your data" for the small number of cases (an active ride, or an unresolved driver schedule) where you're asked to resolve something first, so nobody else is left stranded.

Your choices

Children

Breton Ride is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
